During a road trip across Croatia, a visit to beautiful Split should not be missing from the list. The second largest city in the country is one of the most popular tourist destinations. At the latest during a walk along the city promenade, everyone realizes how popular Split is.

Personally, it is important to us not to stay only at the most famous tourist hotspots, so we searched a little outside the city promenade Riva for the most beautiful places for us. And we found them. In the heart of the old town you will find old parts of the city that are unsurpassable in beauty.

Be it the Diocletian’s Palace, the Split Cathedral, or the city port itself. Our stopover in Split was only two nights long, which is why we discovered the most beautiful corners of the city for us in fast forward and enjoyed our stay there.

The numerous restaurants and bars along the city promenade are definitely worth a visit as well. A short walk after filling your stomach with Balkan specialties is the perfect experience of a short stay on site.

Old town of Split

The old town of Split is only a few minutes walk from the Riva. In the early morning hours still relatively empty, this can be discovered wonderfully. You have the beauty almost all to yourself and can discover everything in all peace.

Beaches in Split

By far the most famous beach is in Bačvice, although Kašjuni is probably the more beautiful of the two. This one is located a bit outside the city center, but is easily accessible by car in a few minutes. A beautiful pebble beach with crystal clear water awaits you here. After you’ve soaked up some sun, you can jump into the Adriatic Sea and cool off from all the heat.
