Personal thoughts

Palermo was the first place we visited in Sicily and already on the first day it enchanted us with its amazing architecture and lively atmosphere. During the day, the streets of Palermo are filled with tourists from all over the world, but in the evenings it is alive with the ubiquitous lights emanating from numerous restaurants, and the hustle and bustle of the streets.

Our favorite places in Palermo, besides the bustling main streets, are the beautiful churches and cathedrals and the local street markets.

Palermo has many places of historical and cultural interest to offer, but they are all located in the very center of the city. Therefore, the best means of transportation around the capital will be your own feet. For less stress and more enjoyment, we recommend to leave the car at the hotel parking.

Best time to visit Sicily

To fully appreciate Palermos charm, it’s best to plan your visit during the warmer months of the year.

From April to May and from October to November, the temperatures in Palermo are pleasantly warm, and the number of tourists is relatively low, making these seasons one of the most enjoyable times to explore the city.

Where to stay in Sicily

Palermo is a large city, but all the most important tourist sites are located in the city center. Therefore, choosing the right hotel or Airbnb is very important. It is best to look for hotels close to the center, so that you can easily get everywhere on foot. When choosing an Airbnb, read reviews about the location, whether it is safe and how far it is from the center of Palermo.

We stayed at Sofia’s Central Apartment and loved it.
