Agadir is known in Morocco mainly because of the kilometer-long sandy beach and the nearby golf courses and other business opportunities in the immediate vicinity. Of course, there are also the famous souks like in Marrakech, where you can literally lose yourself to soak up the authentic local life and possibly buy a nice souvenir.

Almost overlooked there is in Agadir probably the most beautiful medina ever! The new medina of Agadir was modeled on the old medina, which was completely destroyed in 1960 due to a strong earthquake within barely 15 seconds.

Coco Polizzi, a Moroccan-born Italian from Sicily, set himself the task of rebuilding the destroyed medina. This time not in the same place, but about 6km from Agadir, in the district of Ben Sergao.

The best way to get to the medina is by Taxi. This should cost you no more than $5 (MAD 50). Be sure to arrange with the Taxi driver to pick you up! The medina is a bit far from the street, so it is ideal to discuss the pickup during the trip. This is probably already offered to you anyway and if not, you know now.

Rarely have we arrived at a place that has enchanted us from the first moment like the new Medina.

After the entrance and $4 (MAD 40) poorer you are finally ready to enter one of the most beautiful places of Morocco. The new medina is faithfully inspired by Moroccan architecture and makes every visitor forget everything else because of its beauty.

No matter which small alley, no matter which store. Here everything is simply dreamlike. The sellers on site are very affectionate and in no way somehow intrusive. A few nice conversations certainly sweeten the day for both sides.

With the ticket you can also enjoy a free drink at the local restaurant while you enjoy the beauty around you. The new medina has been built so that while you are enjoying the culinary delights, the children can have their mischief in the playground so that the parents can enjoy a moment of peace and quiet.

All the numerous little corners full of beauty do not make it easy to just walk by without taking a few photos of them. Or quite a few, as in our case. Everything here is just perfect and beautiful – a dream of 1,001 nights.
