On the way to Bruges, the beautiful city of Antwerp is also nearby. As usual in Belgium, here is also very much built around the big market. Here, almost everything is relatively easy to reach on foot.

• The Grotemarkt, the heart of the city and therefore also the center.
• The City Hall of Antwerp, also near the Grotenmarkt.
• The Cathedral of Our Lady , which enchants from the outside with its size and construction.
• The Antwerp-Centraal train station is overwhelmingly beautiful, especially inside.
• The Rubenhaus, with its incredibly beautiful courtyard.
• The Museum aan de Stroom, for a sensational view of the whole city.
• The Plantin-Moretus Museum, also with a chic courtyard.

A few of the sights we have also looked at. A few we looked for and stood in front of closed doors. Was that why we were disappointed? Not really. As much as we love traveling and exploring, we are even more fascinated by the local people and the countries themselves.

They are the true core of the beauty of travel and the reason why the journey is always worthwhile. When you’re in Antwerp, don’t miss the opportunity to taste some delicious Belgian fries, spek pattaten or waffles. Your palate will be forever grateful.

The walks through the many small streets alone are indescribably beautiful. You will unexpectedly encounter beautiful little cafes, or deserted street corners, like in a picture book.
