The Amazon Rainforest. As mystical as they may be, they are breathtaking at the same time. Almost nowhere in the world today can you get as close to authentic nature as here. Whether it’s watching parrots, fishing for piranhas, searching for monkeys, tracking down creepy-crawlies, learning natural medicine, or simply being at one with nature. All of this is the Amazon Rainforest of Peru.
Once you arrive in the Amazon Rainforest of Peru, there are many opportunities to discover them. Due to the size, undiscovered areas, and danger present in places, it is strongly recommended to take a guided tour and explore the vast green space with a guide. Personally, I did my four-day stay in the Lungs of the World at Posada Amazonas and can highly recommend it! Warm is also the motto here, especially because of the dry season.
Several planes fly daily from Lima and Cusco to Puerto Maldonado, which is also where the whole adventure starts from. Here you will be picked up by the guide, after which many things will be explained on the bus towards the river while you snack on local fruits. During the trip you will pass many villages, where probably everyone wonders full of admiration:
People really live there?
Housed in various wooden barracks, the locals have built residential communities and villages. The beauty of the whole thing is that these seem to be much happier with less than often live in abundance.
