Cyprus is a wonderful island country that offers not only history, but even more wonderful nature. Cliffs, natural bridges, caves and some of the most beautiful beaches with incredibly turquoise water.

As many as sixty beaches in Cyprus are marked with the Blue Flag – an international award in the field of ecology and environmental protection, which is given to beaches and marinas. In practice this means, incredibly clean beaches and crystal clear water.

In this post you will learn about 10 best beaches in Cyprus.

Personal Thoughts

Besides the party crowd during the summer months, Cyprus is not yet as popular destination as Italy, Croatia or Greece. But this is definitely changing, as the island is incredibly beautiful, and got so much to offer.

On top of that, the people of Cyprus are incredibly friendly and it is also thanks to them that Cyprus has become one of our favorite holiday destinations.

And let’s not forget the other important residents of Cyprus, specifically cats, which are said to outnumber the residents on the island.  So if you love cats as much as we do, don’t forget to stock up on food for these cuties. You will meet cats literally everywhere in Cyprus, and there is nothing more pleasant at the end of the day than a walk around the city and feeding them.

Getting around Cyprus

By Car

If you want to visit all or most of the above-mentioned beaches we definitely recommend you to rent a car. A car gives you the freedom and flexibility to go everywhere at your own pace.

If you are looking for a trusted company to rent a car, we recommend to go with Europcar. Keep in mind that most car rental companies require a credit card, as debit cards are generally not accepted.

By Bus

Some beaches can also be reached by local buses, but keep in mind that you will be dependent on public transportation and your travel time may increase significantly.

Check bus connections around Ayia Napa.

Best time to visit Cyprus

Although Cyprus is a great island for hot summers, spring (May-June) and autumn (September-October, and even early November) are the best months to visit Cyprus.

Temperatures at this time are no longer so extreme, but still pleasant for sunbathing and swimming in the sea. After the high season, the beaches are not as overcrowded, and the prices of accommodations drop slightly.

Where to stay in Cyprus

Considering that most of the beaches mentioned in this post are in the vicinity of Ayia Napa, or Protaras, these two cities would be the best places to rent accommodation.

Be aware, however, that at the end of October/early November the wind in Protaras becomes quite strong, which may make going to the beach in this part of the island less enjoyable.
