Côte d’Azur and the French Riviera is the place to go when it comes to the good life, wealth, yachts, sea and luxury. Especially places like Nice, Cannes and Monaco have always shone with their image of prosperity and thus attract numerous visitors.

Even though we all often travel just to arrive, the way there is already the beginning of the real adventure. For this very reason, the drive to Côte d’Azur is the perfect opportunity for a road trip to the south of France. Arriving near Genoa and continuing towards the Côte d’Azur, a road trip with an unforgettable dreamlike view begins from here. During the curvy drive there you enjoy a view of the French coast and the incredibly blue sea.

Things to Do in Nice

Arriving in Nice, you don’t get the feeling at first sight that you have arrived at the sea. There is a complete city flair here and there is nothing in sight of the sea far and wide. But the first impression is deceptive.

Fortunately!

Because as soon as it goes to the Promenade des Anglais and the turquoise sea is discovered, one’s heart almost stops for sheer joy. I have rarely seen such a dreamlike blue. And the most beautiful thing is that it is not just a dream.

#1 Colline du Château

The former military citadel is now the ideal place for a beautiful view of the promenade. It is located on a hill, which makes it perfect for getting a first good overview of Nice.

#2 Promenade des Anglais

Walk along the Promenade des Anglais while enjoying the view of the sea and feeling the warm breeze on your face. Here you will also find numerous bars and restaurants to discover local delicacies and fill your stomach.

#3 Place Massena

Directly next to it is the Place Massena. This place can be defined as pure joy of life. Small children play around the fountains while adults stroll through the streets, shopping or enjoying a delicious coffee.

#4 Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate de Nice

The beautiful cathedral from the 17th century is located directly in the city center, which is why you can’t and shouldn’t miss it during your exploration tour in Nice.

#5 Notre Dame de Nice

Not only Paris, but also here you will find the Notre Dame de Nice. The Basilica reminds of the one in Paris and is at least as beautiful. Its construction in the Neo-Gothic architectural tradition makes it one of the most worth seeing buildings in Nice.

#6 Cathédrale Saint-Nicolas de Nice

Somewhat unexpectedly, you will also find here the Orthodox Cathédrale Saint-Nicolas de Nice. It is the property of the Russian Federation and makes you feel as if you are in the middle of Moscow.

#7 Église Saint-Pierre-d’Arène de Nice

Nice is full of beautiful churches. Thus, the Église Saint-Pierre-d’Arène de Nice should not be missed. The 18th century Catholic church is at least as beautiful from the outside as it is from the inside.

Côte d’Azur is an incredibly beautiful and exciting corner in the south of France and can be highly recommended (like the local weather). Even though a few notions here and there may not be what you would have liked, it is incredibly beautiful and vibrant on the ground.

Getting around Nice

Around the different places in the Côte d’Azur you can count on the bus connections in addition to the car to explore as much as possible during your stay like for example visiting Cannes on a day trip. In the cities themselves you can easily get around on foot and if desired you can order an Uber.
