Manchester Piccadilly is, as in London, the center of the city. Here are in the immediate vicinity of numerous shopping opportunities as well as bars and restaurants.
Piccadilly Village is my personal insider tip. We liked the residential area around it so much that we immediately got off the bus to take a closer look.
Speaking of restaurants! If you want to enjoy some delicious cuisine while drinking a cold beer, The Old Wellington is the place to be. The pub is the oldest house of its kind in the city and definitely worth a visit. Even for people like me who don’t drink alcohol.
How about a little party? Then Printworks is the place for you. Here you will find many bars, clubs and restaurants in a very small space. With the best recommendation of a former city dweller.
Since the English are a great football people, a visit to the National Football Museum is a must. A very cool place with interesting insights into football history. Book your tickets online in advance for $16 instead of $17.50
For soccer fans, stadium visits to Manchester City or United are, of course, the best option. However, my heart beats for Bayern Munich. Nevertheless interesting.
The area around the Midland Hotel is really worth seeing. Anyone who likes industrial design will be happy here.
Manchester Town Hall as well as Cathedral are a feast for the eyes! Simply beautiful architecture. Also exciting is the area around it. Admission is free.
As in any other big city, I can only warmly recommend that you simply sit down in the center and stroll through the small streets and alleys. You will always discover unexpected places off the beaten track.
The city is very easy to reach internationally. Nearby airports are in Manchester itself and also in Liverpool.
The train network in England is generally very well distributed, making it easy to get there from Scotland or Wales as well. In case you’re travelling from another city in Great Britain, it’s pretty convenient to book a ride within the app.
The city offers a large variety of public transportation options. Be it by bus, tramway or Uber. There is something for every taste.

Manchester is a good idea all year round. Especially between June and August it is warm and many events take place. Remember that the city is unfortunately not spared from the British weather and therefore it can rain from time to time.
