The coastal city in the Croatian peninsula of Istria, apart from the wonderful bathing opportunities, is known mainly for the ruins from the Roman Empire. These include the famous Arena amphitheater that resembles the Colosseum in Rome to the confusion. For already $7 entrance fee you can dive into an almost forgotten world. Also other buildings like the Sergier arch, or the double arch remind of the old time in the Roman Empire.
In addition to the enchanting old town, Pula is best known for the beautiful bathing opportunities. Probably the most beautiful beaches are located in Verudela Bay. Unfortunately, these are not directly in the city, which is why a bus ride of about 15 minutes is necessary.
Once arrived, there are several beaches within walking distance. These are, for example, Ambrela Beach, Brioni Beach, Svjetionik Beach or Hawaii Beach – our favorite. Although it has little in common with the sandy beaches in Hawaii, it was still beautiful and perfect for relaxing and soaking up some sun.
The mixture of beautiful old town, the remains of the Roman Empire and the wonderful beaches and swimming opportunities are exactly the things that make the city a very worth visiting vacation destination in Croatia.
It is best to plan some extra time for your visit to Pula, so that you have the opportunity to look at the Brijuni National Park. A visit to the group of islands should not be missing from your list.
