Ah, Bruges! This gorgeous European city has been high on our list for a long time. The enchanting old town, the Belfort bell tower, the large market square and of course all the many bridges around the city.

A dream became reality!

During the visit to the northwest of Belgium, we reserved just under two days to finally see the city we were so eager to see. You don’t really need to set aside much more time than that. Bruges has just under 120’000 inhabitants, but where they are all hiding remained a mystery to us. Much more Bruges has a small town flair with buildings that date back to the Middle Ages.

The city of Bruges is a sight in itself. The stay and the people make the visit unique. No sight can contribute as much as the local people. But we don’t want to be like that. Here we have of course a few tips ready for you.

#1 Market Square

The whole life takes place more or less at the Market Square. Here you will find some recommendable restaurants as well as a few stalls with delicious Belgian fries!

#2 Belfry of Bruges

Of course, the Belfry of Bruges , as well as the Church of Our Lady, are among the most popular photo spots in all of Bruges. Belfry is also very well known for being able to enjoy a dreamlike view from the top of the tower.

#3 Rozenhoedkaai

The most popular photo spot is clearly Rozenhoedkaai. Here you have a perfect view of the Belfort and can even with large crowds easily make a few pictures all alone.

#4 Bruges on foot

When you have seen these sights, we can only recommend to simply discover Bruges on foot. In our opinion, the real attraction of this city is outside the market square.

After you’ve eaten your fill of delicious fries and indescribably fabulous waffles, it’s best to just walk a bit outside the center and enjoy all the many alleys and the numerous little bridges. These are the real highlight of the city and the real reason why it is so popular. Away from the crowds. Towards the fantastically picturesque alleys.

Bruges is unique, charming and beautiful. In a day or two, you can actually see everything you’ve ever wanted to see. To always think back on it with a smile.
